Let me introduce you to Someone I know

As Easter approaches, I find myself reviewing in my mind the reasons I have come to believe that Jesus is the Son of God. I want to be prepared to give an answer to anyone who asks what Easter is about (1 Peter 3:15). And as I have shared before, I know there is evidence to support my faith—the many prophecies Jesus fulfilled by His birth, His ministry, His trials and death, as well as the evidence of His Resurrection—the many eyewitnesses including women, the empty tomb, and the changed lives of His disciples. All of these evidences help us to see Jesus for who He is—the divine Son of God. But Jesus also wants us to know Him in a much deeper way.

So I began to reflect: If Jesus were before me, and if I were to introduce Him to you, what would I want to say? While He has a very impressive resume, it would not be a list of the prophecies He fulfilled, or even the miracles He performed. Rather, I would want you to know the Christ I have come to know.

Let me introduce my Savior to you.

He was nailed to a cross for me.

He rescued me from my sin when I was ashamed and filled with guilt.

He offered me mercy and forgiveness.

He has filled me with peace.

He accomplished for me what I could not achieve for myself—freedom.

He comforted me when my dad passed away.

He has given me rest time and time again when I have been anxious over things beyond my control.

He has given me wisdom, discernment and direction when I have been willing to listen.

He has loved me despite my failures.

He has put me together when I have been broken.

He is always gentle and always loving.

He is with me always.

And oh, by the way, He is Risen from the dead!

His Name is Jesus.

He is the Lord of my life.

My prayer this Easter, is that we will all come to know Him more.
