I give thanks for you!

“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” Philippians 1:3-5

The UPS and Amazon Prime drivers must wonder what is going on at my house! It seems every day I receive at least one package (and many days, multiple packages) in response to the registry I posted on Amazon. My doorstep feels like Christmas! And while the gifts aren’t for me, I have experienced the same kind of joy upon receipt. My team will bring all of these gifts to Ethiopia next week where we will deliver them at the events we host—including a conference for 100 faithful women who have volunteered to mentor orphan girls, a bonding event for the same mentors and their mentees, an event at a girl’s orphanage of 200, a visit with a local doctor and some of his patients with HIV who live in poverty, as well a visit to a women’s shelter. The gifts will help us demonstrate God’s love for them.

Through this experience, I better understand Paul’s thankfulness to the church at Philippi that supported him financially in his ministry. I have been humbled by the outpouring of gifts, knowing that they come from generous hearts of concern for the marginalized in this world. I recognize that not everyone is called to help those in Ethiopia, so I was surprised at how many responded.  I thank God for the platform He has given me through my blog and Facebook to raise awareness to the great need in Ethiopia. Together we have become partners in the gospel. Thank you!
